Faculty Search Committee Review

Faculty Hiring Review Committee Comments

The university preference is for faculty comments to be entered in FAM. However, if departments record comments on applications and the decision making process on a spreadsheet, Word documents, messaging service, etc. outside of FAM, then departments should send that documentation to the Dean's Office for centralized record keeping.

Comments should refrain from referencing any protected class or characteristic.

The application deadline of 12/2/2016 for the Open Rank position has now passed and letters are coming in from recommenders. Instructions on how to access, view, and comment on these applications are below. Committee recommendations in subareas will be presented at the semester’s final faculty meeting, on Wednesday, December 14 at 12p in SSL 150. The first round of interview candidate selection will happen at this meeting. We will send out several interview invitations right after the meeting to use the January and February interview dates efficiently.

Instructions for access to Applications:
In order to access applications, please direct your URL to https://facultypositions.usc.edu, and sign in through Shibboleth. On the left-hand side you will see a settings column: under “General” click on “select position;” then select, “P01476877, (Open Rank) Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Computer Science” and press, “Go.”

More fields now appear on the left. Under “Review” select “View and Comment on Applications.” From here you can filter applicants by discipline, rank, and date.

You can now enter comments into the available field for each applicant, and include a score and recommendation, if you prefer. Please select, “Save My Recommendations and Comments” to keep your work [once you do this, anyone in the system can see your comments!].
All CS T/TT and Research Faculty have access. If you have any trouble, please let me know and I will troubleshoot.
